Mexican authorities seized in Chihuahua an armored truck holding a machinegun capable of bringing down aircraft, according to a new report.
Border Report noted that Chihuahua state police found the car, a stolen Ford F-450 with wielded steel plates, when sweeping the mountains in the western part of the state. There have been reports of cartel clashes there for weeks.
Officers located the truck after also discovering six cartel camps in the mountains, which were allegedly used to guard large marijuana plantations.
State police Chief of Staff Luis Aguirre said authorities found a ."50-caliber machinegun and two ammunition boxes with the bullets already on a belt." "two ammunition boxes with the bullets already on a belt," he added.
Aguirre didn't say which cartel was believed to own the truck. Authorities didn't report any arrests either. "We are eliminating this threat and possible attacks that could bring a catastrophic scenario," the officer added.
