
Mexican music is mourning the death of Nayeli, "The Queen of Cumbia." The artist's death was announced by her family, González Orozco, on her Facebook account.
"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Nayely, affectionately and respectfully known as "The Queen of Cumbia." Her joy, talent, and charisma lit up the stages and the hearts of all who listened to her and shared unforgettable moments with her," the family's statement reads.
"Today she departs this world, leaving behind a great musical and human legacy that will live on in every chord of cumbia and in every memory of those who loved and admired her.
"We appreciate the outpouring of affection, solidarity, and respect during this difficult time for her family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace, Queen of Cumbia. You will always live on in music and in our memories. We invite our fellow musicians to join us in this final tribute to her life, music, and legacy," the statement added.
Her daughter, Erika González Orozco, posted a live stream of her mother's funeral on her Facebook account. Family and friends said goodbye to Nayeli with music, flowers, and lots of love.
Meanwhile, the artist's colleagues paid tribute to her on social media with heartfelt messages.
"Today, music is in mourning. We say goodbye to a great friend, colleague, and artist: Nayeli, the Queen of Cumbia. Your voice, your joy, and your passion for cumbia left their mark on every stage and in every heart you touched," Merenglass said.
The group Aroma expressed: "We deeply regret the passing of our dear friend Nayeli, the Queen of Cumbia. This sad news fills us with pain, but also with gratitude for everything she gave us with her voice, her joy, and her talent. Rest in peace, my friend. You will always live in music and in our hearts."
For his part, Alberto Pedraza wrote on Facebook: "With deep sorrow, we join in the grief that overwhelms the family, friends, and fans of our beloved Nayeli, the queen of cumbia. Her voice, her talent, and her profession will light up the stages and the hearts of those of us who had the honor of sharing her life. Today, music is in mourning, but her legacy will live on forever in every memory."
