President Enrique Peña Nieto congratulated the national soccer team on Twitter for the win against Croatia, in which El Tri scored three goals against one. The Mexican president highlighted the greatness, preparation, attitude, spirit and willingness of El Tri. "What pride! Today the preparation, attitude, enthusiasm and spirit of @miseleccionmx is confirmed. They are great team! Viva Mexico! " published the president on his Twitter account.

Enrique Peña Nieto watched the game at the presidential hangar accompanied by the Secretary of National Defense, Salvador Cienfuegos, the head of SEP, Emilio Chuayffet, Energy Secretary Pedro Joaquin Coldwell and the Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam. The president saw all three goals and finally shouted, "We're going to Brazil ... We're going to Brazil!". After the match he stated that he was glad that the selection had advanced to the next stage and wished them every success to reach the final.

Enrique Peña Nieto stated following the game that "We are overwhelmed with emotion to see our team play in such harmony and score goals.
