Kris Bryant and Bryce Harper are friends and the two would love to play together in one team. That almost happened with the Chicago Cubs but the team never seriously pursued Harper.

This time around, it is Bryant who is a free agent and there is no telling which team will try to lure him. The only thing known right now is that he is not expected to return to Chicago, meaning seeing both friends finally playing together is plausible.

No less than Harper is batting for Bryant to join him over in Philadelphia.

“NL MVP Bryce Harper is stumping for good friend/Vegas neighbor Kris Bryant in Philly. Harper pull helped keep Realmuto. Phils have needs but also options (Schwarber, Conforto, Castellanos, etc) KB does fit, either for 3B and/or OF. He, too, has options: Sea, Colo, SD, NYM, more,” Jon Heyman of the MLB Network tweeted.

Considering Harper has a large influence on who to add for the Phillies, the chances of Bryant ending up there may happen. However, there are things to consider.

One is Bryant is coming off a so-so 2020 season, hampered by injuries. He did rebound in 2021, somehow getting back on track. If he is, there is no denying that the four-time All-Star is someone who can be productive on the field.

Given his stock, the 30-year-old is expected to get his share of suitors. Last season, splitting his time with Chicago and San Francisco, Bryant hit 25 home runs while playing in 144 games.

The Phillies could get a shot in the arm if they manage to reel in Bryant. And while this would address their outfield woes, it may be futile unless Philadelphia can address its pitching depth.

If not this season, Bryant and Harper reuniting may still happen moving forward. The latter is signed with the Phillies until 2031.
