The Russian Intelligence Service (SVR) is claiming that the UK and France are preparing to give nuclear weapons to Ukraine as the invasion of Russia enters its fifth year, according to a new report.

The Kyiv post said the statement was published by Russian state news agency TASS. The agency added that "Britain and France realize that there is no chance of achieving victory over Russia through the Ukrainian Armed Forces."

The outlet cited reports from other Russian media companies who detailed that the plan would involved "the covert transfer of European components, equipment, and technologies to Ukraine in this area." It added that Germany is aware of the plot but refused to take part in it.

Moscow called on the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to investigate the matter. The country has said in the past it won't allow Ukraine to get nuclear weapons and will use all available means to prevent it.

"If the country with which we are essentially currently engaged in military action becomes a nuclear power, what should we do? In that case, we will use all available means of destruction. All of them," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in November 2024.

"If someone officially transfers anything, then it will be a violation of all our obligations regarding the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," he added.

RIA news agency also reported that Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov will inform the U.S. about the alleged attempts to give Ukraine a nuclear weapon. Moscow has not provided any evidence of the alleged attempts.
