A mother has been accused of brutally strangling her newborn baby to death with the help of her sisters, before proceeding to hide the child's body in the freezer for three days in Jordan, the Middle East.
The accused was reportedly in a relationship with someone and bore an unwanted pregnancy. The mother, who did not want to keep the baby, allegedly tried several methods to get rid of the pregnancy herself. However, she was unsuccessful in her attempts. Following this, she informed her two sisters regarding the baby and sought help to get rid of her child, Gulf News reported.
On Feb. 21, the accused went to one of her sisters' houses, where her other sibling joined them. The trio reportedly stayed at the residence until the accused gave birth to a healthy baby girl. After the child was born, however, the three allegedly strangled the newborn baby, who was barely a few hours old, to death and placed her remains inside a closet until the next day morning.
Subsequently, they transferred the body inside a freezer for three days to prevent the dead body's odor from alerting their neighbors.
Three days later, the accused allegedly took the baby's body out of the freezer and buried it with the help of her brother.
After the savage killing finally came to light, the accused sisters were arrested and charged with premeditated murder and concealing a crime. The Grand Criminal Court is set to preside over their trials. However, the defendants have pleaded "not guilty" to the charges raised against them.
The officers have not been able to locate the baby's body even after multiple attempts.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a woman was arrested for allegedly smothering her one-day-old baby to death at a private nursing home in Kolkata, India on Oct. 19.
The accused, identified as Lovely Singh, who was unhappy to have delivered a girl child, admitted to using a pillow to smother her child to death at a private nursing home in Kolkata, India, according to The Times Of India.
Singh reportedly gave birth to a baby girl on Oct. 19. However, after realizing that she delivered a girl instead of a boy, the woman reportedly got upset.
The accused's husband, who was staying with the woman after her delivery, went out to get some tea early in the morning. During this time, between around 5.30 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Oct. 20, the caregiver, Anjuman Bibi, entered the room and found the baby dead.
Following the incident, Singh confessed to killing her child with a pillow.
The nursing home reportedly submitted a complaint against the mother at the local police station.
