MrBeast Seeks 100 Volunteers to Fight a Gorilla, Gets Thousands

YouTuber and viral challenge mogul MrBeast has joined the internet's absurd hypothetical: Could 100 men take down a gorilla?

On Monday, 26-year-old MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, posted a mock-up image of his face over an AI image of a gorilla standing before a battlefield of men. Made to look like a MrBeast YouTube video, it was titled "100 Men vs a Gorilla" and captioned, "Need 100 men to test this, any volunteers?"

The post was a play on a viral tweet that sparked debate across the internet. MrBeast had posted the tweet Sunday, with the comment, "Should I test this?" but deleted it shortly after. The tweet read "I think 100 n---as could beat 1 gorilla everybody just gotta be dedicated to the shit," according to screenshots circulating online.

Thousands of users volunteered—many ironically, some disturbingly seriously.

"Every event in my entire life has led up to this moment," one X user wrote. "I'll be the real Mr. Beast by the time I'm done."

Even Elon Musk joined the thread, writing: "Sure, what's the worst that could happen?"

Reactions ranged from bemused to concerned. One user quipped, "This is why men don't live as long," while another called it "a really bad team-building exercise."

Others warned MrBeast to stay away from the trend entirely, accusing him of ruining the meme, or condemning the suggestion to hurt an animal.

Known for holding large scale challenges with enormous cash prizes, MrBeast has amassed a net worth of roughly half a billion dollars building the most-subscribed to channel on YouTube. While the gorilla challenge is likely a joke, with enough money and eager participants, it's hard to be sure.
