The American musical drama, “Nashville,” created by Academy Award winner Callie Khouri (“Thelma and Louise”) chronicles the lives of various fictitious country music singers in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally, the show was focused on the rivalry between legendary country music superstar Rayna Jaymes, played by Connie Britton, and rising young star Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere. As the story progressed, a lot of other characters were added into the mix making the show a portrayal of Nashville’s Country Music Scene.

Even though the show is entirely fictional, it has been related to the real life story of several Country Music Stars. In addition to the main cast, several actors appear in the ABC drama with supporting roles: Judith Hoag as Tandy Hampton, Sylvia Jefferies as Jolene Barnes, Aubrey Peeples as Layla Grant, Laura Benati as Sadie Stone, Derek Hough as Noah West, Jay Hernández as Dante Rivas, Alexa PeñaVega as Kiley, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, and Kyle Dean Massey as Kevin Bicks to name some.

The plot in which “Nashville” evolves gives it a lot of freedom to keep adding new characters as the story develops. Clare Bowen, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Lennon and Maisy Stella, and Chris Carmack have been able to establish themselves as musicians in the acting world because of the show.

On March 9, Christina Aguilera announced her appearance on the show via Twitter: “Look at all that hair! Having lots of fun on the set of #Nashville. More to come!” The singer will be playing Jade St. John, a pop superstar who has always wanted to record a country album but has been shackled by her label to stay “on brand in the pop,” according to ABC. “The Voice’s” judge will have a connection to one of the already known characters, Jeff Fordham, played by Oliver Hudson. Aguilera’s first episode of “Nashville” airs April 15 at 10pm ET on ABC.
