The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers will have a lot of soul-searching to do this offseason, meaning players could be on the move. Though the two clubs made a good run, it remains that most had expected them to go as far as the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, both squads failed to do so and now changes are forthcoming.

The Clippers have started the revamp and that all began with the firing of Doc Rivers. Blowing a 3-1 lead was seen as one of the reasons, the third time that Rivers has done so per Sky Sports. But it appears there is more to that, including Rivers’ ability to properly evaluate players like Michael Porter Jr.

But for Los Angeles, it could also be time to consider if getting Paul George was a good move. The fact that he and Kawhi Leonard play the same position raised questions though some felt Rivers had something up his sleeve. Heading into next season, the Clips could change it up and part with George to get a player they need. One position that they direly need is the point guard position, someone who can play on both ends of the floor.

A suggested target is Kemba Walker of the Boston Celtics. Though he put up good numbers, the Celtics still fell short of expectations. Per Basketball-Reference, Walker averaged 20.9 points, 4.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds but that effort was not enough.

Considering he was taken in to take over from Kyrie Irving, it would be a bit strange for the Celtics to give up on the 30-year-old guard. But for now, he looms as the only plausible option that the Clips could be interested in. Gordon Hayward is the guy who has a player option who could be traded. But an exchange involving him may make no sense. Worse, he has been beset by injuries and could be of no use if he spends more time in the sidelines.

Unless the Celtics have their eyes on another point guard who can do better, a trade involving Walker holds low chances of happening. Hence, the best to expect is someone else from the roster. Marcus Smart could be worth looking into but this is also assuming Danny Ainge is looking for a new guard in the market.

That could come from the free-agent market or the upcoming rookie draft. Dealing away Walker would only benefit the Clippers if ever it does get entertained. George could use the change of scenery. But based on the exchange, Walker is not the guy the Celtics is likely to deal away.
