Lexus has been very busy with its line-up lately as it continues to shift its range into the latest "spindle-grille" design.
Saving the best for last, LeftLaneNews reported that Lexus will unveil its next generation flagship LS model within a couple month's time.
Details remain limited but while the design of the outgoing LS aged quite well in its 7-year production run, a promo video of the new Lexus RX crossover released earlier this year provided an easter egg teaser glimpse of the next generation LS model. As the date of the official unveiling draws closer, expect a big departure from the L-finesse styling philosophy for a more aggressive design with crisper folds as well as a sharp, instantly recognizable spindle front-end.
Information suggests some changes underneath the new sheetmetal as well. Short and long-wheelbase LS models will continue to be offered and passenger coddling-luxuries and conveniences will certainly be ample and well thought out. Keeping with the times, expect the upcoming Lexus flagship to apply lighter and stronger materials as well as a number of innovative safety features.
Creating the biggest buzz of all are rumors suggesting some big changes found under the hood. Addressing the need for better fuel efficiency, industry observers predict the next LS may adopt a 3.5 liter V6 engine rather than soldier on with the heavier and more thirsty V8. Likewise Lexus may even replace the V8 hybrid powertrain with a refined version of the hybrid system found in the GS 450h.
Look for the unveiling of the next generation Lexus LS flagship before the end of the year. In the meantime, stay tuned for more details.
