About 50 people fell from a pedestrian bridge in Ecuador while enjoying an event that was organized by the Provincial Government of Manabí, within the festivities for the month of Manabitismo, a celebration that takes place every year to commemorate the provincialization of the area.

According to reports from El Universo, the bridge that was located in the community of La Madera on the Carrizal river, in the Tosagua canton, didn't resist the weight, throwing spectators, among them children, into the river. The emergency service reported that five people were seen and discharged at the scene, while another 24 patients were assisted at various health centers.

According to reports, people helped to rescue those who fell from the hanging structure. The locals said that the bridge had been built 10 years ago, had not received maintenance and only had capacity of a ton and a half.
