An Indian police guard allegedly attempted to molest his landlord’s eight-year-old niece in Aligarh last Wednesday just days after shifting to the house as a tenant. He has been arrested now.

The guard, who has been identified as Rajveer Singh, is posted at the police line, said the victim’s uncle, reported The Times Of India.

The accused has been staying all by himself as a tenant in the property where the girl lives with her mother and uncle. The guard had moved in as a tenant in the house since last week only before he thought of committing the crime. The girl’s uncle told the media that the crime took place when the victim's mother had stepped out for work while the child was left behind at home.

The victim's family soon approached police and filed a complaint. Based on it, an FIR was filed. Following this, he was arrested. Kuldeep Singh Gunawat, SP (City), Aligarh, said that the accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 354 (using criminal force to violate a woman's modesty) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).

In a separate incident, a 51-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for repeatedly molesting his minor stepdaughter in their house, said the complainant, Hindustan Times reported. The victim told the Pimpri-Chinchwad police that since 2016, the accused had been physically abusing her, touching her inappropriately and using sexual language while talking to her.

According to police sub-inspector SG Goday, the girl started living alone with him after her mother died in 2016 due to various conditions, including diabetes and blood pressure. But on Sunday, when the sexual abuse allegedly happened again, she ran to a friendly bakery worker whom she called "uncle" and narrated the ordeal to him. Then social workers and police were informed about the matter.

The complaint said that the girl had also allegedly got her head injured when the man hit her while arguing regarding household chores. The girl, who is a Class 10 student, claimed that the man also thrashed her for resisting physical abuse.

At the Wakad police station, a case under Section 354 of the IPC along with Section 7, 8, 12 of POCSO was registered against the man.
