Obama will officially welcome Pope Francis to the U.S. in a ceremony with 20,000 invited guests, at the White House this morning. Both President Barack Obama and Francis planned to speak.

Officials said that 11,000 ticketed guests were present, not including press, staff, military or volunteers. The Vatican and American national anthems will play. Obama will deliver a welcome address to the pope, followed by the pope's address. Francis will also receive a thunderous 21-gun salute. The Pope is expected to address Congress on Thursday and the United Nations on Friday, then travel to Philadelphia to complete his six-day tour.
