Porsche 918 Spyder Unveiling liquidsk8s

Earlier this week, we showed you images of the stunning Porsche 918 in Martini livery and we hope it whetted your appetite!

Pictures are worth a thousand words, but a video is certainly worth a heck of a lot more than that. Last night, YouTube channel liquidsk8s released exclusive footage of a production ready Porsche 918 Spyder and a race-prepped Porsche 918 RSR from a private unveiling inside Canoe Studios in New York.

As we near the Porsche 918's official unveiling, there are a number of performance numbers and specs we can confirm. Firstly, the 918 Spyder will feature a carbon fiber reinforced plastic monocoque interlocked with a CFRP unit carrier for maximum safety and rigidity. Underneath the skin, the Porsche 918 boasts an RS Spyder-derived 4.6 liter V8 mid engine with dry sump lubrication. A flywheel energy regenerating hybrid system features complex power distribution between a 90 kW electric motor sending power to the rear axle and a 80 kW electric motor to the front. Combined, the Porsche 918 is rated at more than 700-hp, good enough to take the sports car from 0-to-60 mph in the low 3's and all the way to a top speed exceeding 200 mph. Best of all, the incredibly fast 918 Spyder is also capable of returning 78 mpg. Incredibly quick and highly fuel efficient, the Porsche 918 Spyder is nothing short of black magic.
