Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are quite the neighbors. According to the people who live around their home in Windsor, a few rules were issued by a palace official that they had to strictly abide by, or else. Some claimed that the demands were so over the top they could not find it funny.

A new report emerged claiming that not only is living next door to royalty quite interesting, it was also quite hassling. A well-meaning palace official sat in a recent Windsor residents’ meeting to provide the royals' neighbors with the dos’ and don’ts when interacting with Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex.

As reported by the Sun, these rules imposed strict restrictions on how the neighbors should act and move around Prince Harry, Markle and their baby, Archie. The rules included never, ever doing these: asking whether they could see or babysit Archie, slipping mail through their letterbox, and offering to walk nor pet their dogs, no matter if the dogs themselves come bounding to them in the first place.

No one should also be kind enough to greet the royals a “good morning” unless they utter the greeting first. One local said it could have been funny if it was not so overwhelming.

Some of the neighbors find it offensive too because it was not as if it’s the first time they have lived near nor interacted with royals. Note that most of the Windsor residents are important people themselves who are already used to palace culture, such as palace officials, staff, as well as royally-adjacent people.

"It’s extraordinary. We’ve never heard anything like it. Everyone who lives on the estate works for the royals and knows how to behave respectfully," one shared to the Sun.

The neighbors also included Queen Elizabeth’s right-hand woman herself, Angela Kelly. Prince Charles’ past nanny Mabel Anderson, as well as the governor of Windsor Castle are also among these people who suddenly found themselves having to act so restrictedly.

On the one hand, it is understandable why there are protocols when living near and interacting with anyone from the royal family. Just recently, the entire cast of “The Lion King” was also given a long list of instructions just concerning how to greet the Prince and the Duchess of Sussex during the event.

This was shared by Billy Eichner to Jimmy Kimmel in an interview post-premiere.

“You're supposed to say, 'Your royal highness.' You can't speak until your hands are, like, in a handshake with his. My plus-one—my guest I brought with me, my very good friend Jared—they said he had to stand behind me and not speak unless he was spoken to. I'm not kidding! I was like, 'Does that same rule apply to Jay-Z?' I have a feeling it doesn’t,” he shared animatedly.

However, Prince Harry and Markle's neighbors are not just anybody unfamiliar with palace culture so the rules can be considered weird and too demanding for some. This is especially true for those who had the chance to live near or interact with the Queen.

"We aren’t told how to behave around the Queen like this. She’s very happy for people to greet her," one neighbor revealed.

It remains to be seen if these neighbors would ever warm up to the two if these reports are true or accurate since one insider told Daily Mail that the couple actually did not have an idea such a meeting took place.
