Prince Harry spoke up for the first time about the backlash he faced for using a private jet. He cited safety as a reason for his decision. However, Pierce Morgan slammed the British royal for using what he called a “bogus excuse” for choosing the luxurious mode of transport.

Speaking at a press conference, Prince Harry explained that he uses commercial jets 99 percent of the time while travelling around the world. However, he added that he uses private jets occasionally, when he feels that it is necessary to ensure the safety of his wife Meghan Markle and their newborn son Archie.

Morgan discussed Prince Harry’s response to the backlash he faced for using private jets in his “Good Morning Britain” show. During the debate, the host said that he has no problem with the British royal using gas guzzling modes of transport, but he is against the use of such travel arrangements from someone who is preaching about climate change.

“Nobody wants to hate these two,” Morgan said. He, however, pointed out that both Prince Harry and Markle making themselves look like “ranked, hypocrites.”

On the question of safety, Morgan compared Markle with Princess Diana and said that the latter was more famous in her life than the Duchess of Sussex will ever be, but she flew commercial 99 percent of the time. The comment was in response to questions about safety for Markle, who has had to deal with racism and may be facing threats that haven’t been made public.

The TV show host called Prince Harry’s reason for travelling in private jets as a “bogus excuse.” Morgan ended the discussion by calling out to the British royal and saying that he can’t fly a private jet and at the same time preach about climate change. He also took to Twitter to share the same views.
