The Book Of Life, Birdman Nominated For PGAs
The Producers Guild has announced their nominees for 2015 20th Century Fox/Fox Searchlight Pictures

Following suit to the wave of nominations and beginning of award season we’ve been witnessing, the Producers Guild has selected their frontrunners for this year’s honors. The PGAs are known to be clear indicators of what’s coming at the Oscars as the last seven years the film that’s won the PGA has also (maybe coincidentally) won the top prize at the Academy Awards. We shall see this February 22. Meanwhile, we couldn’t help but being surprised to see the Producers Guild did not pick movies like Ava DuVernay’s “Selma”, Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken”, and even Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”, which all have major Oscar buzz.

However, at this point, most of the nominees are safe Oscar bets and therefore weren’t very big surprises, including González Iñárritu’s “Birdman”, Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper”, both British biopics “The Imitation Game” and “The Theory of Everything”, Wes Anderson’s beautiful “Grand Budapest Hotel,” Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood”, David Fincher’s Gone Girl and Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher.” In terms of Animated Features, Guillermo del Toro’s “The Book of Life” will run against Disney’s “Big Hero 6” and Dan Lin’s “The LEGO Movie” amongst others.
