In his speech on Friday on the annexation of four regions of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western morals “outright Satanism.”

During his 37-minute speech, Putin spoke about the break up of the Soviet Union, Western “colonial policy,” nuclear weapons and his view of Western morals.

“The dictatorship of the Western elites is directed against all societies, including the peoples of the Western countries themselves. This is a challenge to all. This is a complete denial of humanity, the overthrow of faith and traditional values. Indeed, the suppression of freedom itself has taken on the features of a religion: outright Satanism,” says Putin.

“Do we really want, here, in our country, in Russia, instead of ‘mum’ and ‘dad’, to have ‘parent number one’, ‘parent number two’, ‘number three’? Have they gone completely insane? Do we really want … it drilled into children in our schools … that there are supposedly genders besides women and men, and [children to be] offered the chance to undergo sex change operations? … We have a different future, our own future.”

Putin and leaders of the four regions signed treaties to annex Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. The annexation of the regions has been condemned as illegal by Ukraine and the Western powers.

During the ceremony that same day, the Russian leader even called the residents of Ukraine under the four regions “our citizens forever,” and added that Kremlin is ready to defend their land with all their strength and the means possible while calling on “the Kyiv regime to immediately cease hostilities and return to the negotiation table.”

“We are ready for this … But we will not discuss the choice of the people in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. That has been made. Russia will not betray them,” Putin said addressing his message to Kyiv on Friday pertaining to the annexation as “the will of the people.”

This most recent speech of Putin has been one of his toughest anti-American speeches in more than 20 years in power, according to Al Jazeera. He signaled that he is more than ready for “a battle” which he called “greater historical Russia while labeling the West as a neo-colonial that seems to be aiming to destroy his country.

Putin also accused and hold Washington and other allies responsible for blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
