Queen Elizabeth II is already 93 years old and royal fans are concerned about her health.

A tabloid, recently, claimed that Her Majesty is terribly ill since she was unable to wear her crown at the State Opening of Parliament. Concerned royal fans are also convinced that the monarch won’t live very long.

The tabloid went as far as saying that the Queen is suffering from bladder cancer. However, she cannot undergo surgery and chemotherapy because she is too weak for those types of treatments.

While the Queen is struggling with her health, her eldest son, Prince Charles, is serving as Prince Regent. Even though his role is just temporary, there are claims that the heir to the throne has no plans to give back the throne to his aged mother.

Last year, rumors swirled that the Queen has secret plans to make Prince Charles Prince Regent in three years. This means that in 2021, the future King will become Prince Regent.

In an article, he penned for Daily Mail, royal expert Robert Jobson said that considering the Queen’s robust health, it is more likely for Prince Charles to be Prince Regent for a few years first before he could become King. “Given the Queen’s history of robust health, perhaps a far more likely scenario is that her great age will mean she herself will trigger a period of regency, thus ensuring safe stewardship of the great office she has held and worked so hard to secure,” he said.

However, this doesn’t mean that Her Majesty would abdicate. It simply means that, while the Queen could no longer perform her royal duties, Prince Charles would be the one to do most of the heavy lifting on her behalf. Prince Charles will see an increase in his workload and he will also be expected to carry out 600 engagements yearly.

“There are those who insist the Queen is still as sprightly, fit and sharp as she was two decades ago. This is not true. She is still sharp on matters of state but requires her schedule to reflect her age and capacity. Even she thinks those loyal subjects who believe nothing needs to change are deluding themselves,” Jobson said.
