Right-wing journalist Lara Logan responded sharply to California Governor Gavin Newsom's statement on X condemning the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, suggesting him of being linked to the incident without providing further details.

Newsom wrote on X on Wednesday: "The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form." In reply, Logan posted: "You are part of this operation. Shut up."

In a series of follow-up posts, the journalist called the shooting a "professional hit," claiming that "people making this about the 2nd Amendment know so little about guns that they have no idea this was a professional hit. How do you know? Because the shooter made it in and out of a crowded, public place where Campus security & local police were present, without being detected."

In another post, Logan compared Kirk to historic figures, writing: "Charlie Kirk is the Martin Luther King and JFK Jr of today. This fight does not end with him."

In another post, she urged supporters to join a "prayer chain" for Kirk's family, stating: "Say this prayer for Charlie & Erika & their beautiful children. The greatest antidote to all the hatred online is Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior. God bless you Charlie. Rest peacefully knowing you did so much in such a short time — you changed the world."

Logan's prominence within right-wing media has grown in recent years. As a sprawling February piece from NPR explained, she was "a highly decorated foreign correspondent at CBS News until her embrace of a fabulist's claims about Benghazi imploded her career at 60 Minutes." She later hosted her own shows on Fox's streaming service, Fox Nation.

Currently, Logan is the host of "Going Rogue with Lara Logan" where, as she puts it in her official X bio, she "engages in powerful conversations with people who have important stories and information to share, digging deep to shed light on crucial, often under-reported issues."
