Camila Mendes revealed how difficult it was for her to attend her fittings for “Riverdale” because they took a toll on her physical and mental health. The actress plays the role of Veronica Lodge in the hit The CW series.

While speaking at PopSugar’s Play/Ground summit in New York last weekend, Mendes said that her fittings for “Riverdale” were quite a difficult experience because she had to try on clothes that didn’t make her feel comfortable in her own skin. And the actress also said that it was only after she joined the industry that she found out that she had an eating disorder.

“I used to think dieting was nice, healthy way to live,” she said. “It took a lot … to get rid of that fear of carbs,” she added.

Mendes also shared how she manages her photos on social media. She said that if she doesn’t like a photo of herself, she won’t post it on Instagram or Twitter.

This wasn’t the first time that Mendes talked about her eating disorder. In December, she told Shape that she credits her recovery to her therapist and nutritionist, as well as a regular exercise schedule.

“I’ve struggled with bulimia,” she said. “It happened a little bit in high school and again when I was in college. Then it came back when I started working in this industry with fittings all the time and watching myself on camera … If I ate a sweet, I would be like, ‘Oh my God, I’m not going to eat for five hours now.’”

And earlier this year, the actress also encouraged her millions of followers on social media to join her in the #donewithdieting movement. On her Instagram account, Mendes penned a moving post.

“My passion for education, cinema, music, etc. — all the interests that used to occupy my mind — had been eaten away by my desire to be thin, and it made me miserable,” she wrote. “I’m done believing in the idea that there’s a thinner, happier version of me on the other side of all the tireless effort.”
