"Riverdale" is celebrating the show's 100th episode. As part of the show's sixth season, the producers added another significant shock by bringing back a familiar face from the show's history.

Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, and Lili Reinhart all shared behind-the-scenes images and other messages on social media on Tuesday to commemorate the occasion.

Mendes, who portrays Veronica Lodge on "Riverdale," shared a photo slideshow on Instagram, including a cast photo from the show's 100th episode celebration.

Betty Cooper, Reinhart in real life, also took to Twitter on Tuesday evening. "This episode is so special ❤️ enjoy #Riverdale100," she tweeted.

Riverdale is based on characters from Archie Comics. The show follows a group of friends who live in Riverdale. This tiny town appears to be ideal until they become engaged in terrible mysteries.

The CW's Riverdale is currently in its sixth season.

UPI said "Riverdale" co-stars include Casey Cott, Charles Melton, Drew Ray Tanner and Erinn Westbrook, KJ Apa, Madelaine Petsch, Mädchen Amick, and Vanessa Morgan.

During the show's 100th episode, titled "The Jughead Paradox," Jughead Jones began to notice the parallel "Riverdale" universe and began collecting comic books depicting a different Reggie Mantle.

Digital Spy explained that the character was recast from Ross Butler to Charles Melton when the former was forced to quit the program to focus on "13 Reasons Why."

Both versions of Reggie appeared in the episode as a tribute to the recasting, Butler's version showing up to see Melton's version with Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), before battling to the death and both being slain.

This season has seen several significant events, including fatalities and a Sabrina crossover, to name a few.

The "death" of Archie Andrews back at the beginning was a particularly major event, though some fans argued that this choice isn't always a terrible thing for the series as a whole.

Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan) died as well, having made a great sacrifice to save her kid.

Meanwhile, Reinhart recently revealed that Riverdale may be nearing the conclusion of its run, implying that the seventh season could be the final one.

HITC said "Riverdale" Season 6 will premiere on The CW on Mar. 6, 2022, with Episode 6.

For its comeback in the new year, the show will move from its traditional Tuesday night slot to Sunday nights.

Assuming that an episode of "Riverdale" Season 6 will air every Sunday starting Mar. 6, 2022, the finale will air on Sunday, Jun. 6, 2022.

Seasons 4 and 5 of "Riverdale" both featured 19 episodes, so we may expect Season 6 to have roughly the same number of episodes.

However, there may be a short interruption throughout this course, pushing the end date back to Jul. 2022.

Season 6 may feature one or two episodes more or less than prior seasons, affecting the release date.
