Royal Family fans probably fancy waking up in the morning to see the royal family out the window opposite their home. For future tenants of this cottage, the dream will be a reality!
A cottage opposite Prince William and Kate Middleton’s country home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, is currently up for rent for £700 per month.
The 20 Cherry Tree property is located just meters away from the royal mansion’s entrance. The Sandringham Estate describes it as a two-bedroom property “with a large garden and off-road parking.” The unfurnished home was newly refurbished.
However, anyone who wants to walk among royals and future kings should be warned: the site indicates that there is a “no cat policy” among all properties that the Sandringham Estate is letting out across its 13 villages while a “no dog policy” varies for each house. The cottage for rent also has steep stairs.
There’s no need for interested royal fans to hurry up in applications because the tenants to be accepted in the area are not considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Sandringham’s housing policy is to let properties as a primary residence, prioritizing those who live and work locally,” the renting estate claims. “Properties are not let on a first-come, first-served basis, but rather on which prospective tenant is best suited to the property.”
Moreover, not everyone can simply walk in to get near a royal family’s country home. Property viewings are accepted only by appointment.
Queen Elizabeth gave Anmer Hall as a wedding gift to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The royal couple moved in while Prince William worked as a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, but not before the property was refurbished using £1.5 million funds.
The funds gave the Cambridge family an overall internal redecoration to suit the couple’s taste, an entirely new roof, a new kitchen and an expanded tree-planting program that made the mansion a “secluded fortress” for greater privacy for the family, Hello! Magazine described.
The mansion is also known to include a conservatory designed by architect Charles Morris, a swimming pool and a private tennis court.
Prince George, third-in-line to the throne, and sister Princess Charlotte first grew up with Anmer Hall as their residence home before the family moved to Kensington Palace in London.
Even after the family has moved to London, this makes the mansion a special country retreat home. Future tenants will have a high chance of getting a glimpse of the Cambridge couple and children once they move into 20 Cherry Tree.
