A drunk Scottish Royal Navy sailor who attempted to force a fellow female colleague into giving him oral sex while on board a nuclear submarine has been allowed to continue his career in the military.

Able Seaman Calvin Denver pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual touching without consent after the court martial heard the details that took place while the trident missile-armed submarine was moored alongside the Faslane Naval base.

The 28-year-old engineer technician apparently had been drinking in the mess of the submarine with friends around 7pm when the female officer joined them in the early hours of the morning. At that point, Denver was already past the point of sensible drunkenness and was described to be “loud and boisterous”.

"He began asking questions about her sexual history and at one point asked her 'why won't you s*** me? You have already s***ged him'," Lt. Commander Solomon Hartley from prosecution said.

During the trial at Bulford Military Court in Wiltshire, the female officer managed to ignore and laugh off Denver’s harassment, even as he kept repeating his demands louder and more aggressively each time.

Despite the woman’s refusal, Denver went over to her and unzipped his trousers. She told im to stop but he ignored her and pulled out his penis in front of everyone and kept asking her to “suck his d***” while shoving his penis in her face towards her mouth.

The court heard that although she was able to move away and avoid it, Denver’s penis touched her nose. According to The Sun, the female officer reported the incident as court documents stated that Denver was so drunk that he did not remember the events the following day. His colleagues told him what had happened and he apologized to her.

Denver stood motionless in his dress uniform as the court read his sentence while Judge Advocate Jane England criticized him for the “disgusting” and “disgraceful” behavior he displayed. “This was appalling behavior by you but it is the only thing you have done in your four years of service. You immediately apologized to the woman. You pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and have shown remorse for your actions," the judge said.

The sailor avoided being dismissed from the Royal Navy and was allowed to resume service after completing detention of nine months at a Military Corrective Training Center. On top of this, Denver must also keep the police aware of his movements for the next five years.
