
Mario Machado, a former news anchor and actor, has passed away in his native Los Angeles. He was 78.
His daughter Michelle confirmed that he died Saturday from complication of pneumonia at an L.A. convalescent facility.
Machado, who was of Chinese and Portuguese descent, was L.A.'s first Asian-American newscaster. In his decade long career he was a newsman, producer, TV show host and commentator.
He also played a newsman in TV shows and movies, including "Robocop," "Rocky III" and, most notably, "Scarface."
