"Sleepy Hollow" leapt off the starting blocks last week during its debut episode on Fox, attracting some 10 million viewers. Tonight, September 23, the drama returns for its second episode. Ichabod Crane (Tom Milson) is still getting used to the fact that after falling asleep in the eponymous hollow during the Revolutionary War, he's now awake and alive in the 21st century, and the Redcoat he thought he'd killed is exacting revenge on his old American foes. A visit from Ichabod's former wife, Katrin (Katia Winter), will put Crane and Detective Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) on the trail of a vengeful Revolution-era witch who is wreaking havoc. Scroll down to watch clips from tonight's show, which airs at 9 p.m. EST.
This second episode will see Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) and Detective Mills trying to figure out who this guy Ichabad Crane - who says back in his pre-snooze fighting days in the Revolutionary War, he decapitated a Hessian soldier which is now terrorizing the small town where the action takes place - really is. Poor Ichabad is pretty stressed about finding himself in the 21st century. To top off the trauma, he's a bit lost amid all the newfangled inventions his new present features, from televisions to hair dryers, coffee makers and indoor plumbing. Meanwhile, according to the show’s press release, Officer Andy Brooks (John Cho) is back in the picture and on a “questionable mission of his own”.
“Blood Moon”, as the next episode is called, is the work of executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, whose other work includes the series “Alias”, “Fringe” and “Hawaii Five-O” as well as the “Star Trek” and “Transformers” franchises and “Spider-Man”. According to the Examiner, Kurtzman has said these sorts of adaptations aren’t hard because the stories are timeless and because the familiarity of them actually lends a hand as long as the viewers are kept entertained by new twists. “Sleepy Hollow”, which flashes back and forth between Crane’s past, pre-hiberation life and the present day, will as such span over the course of 250 years. The challenge might be the other way around – Orci said that despite the abundance of mythology -- and crazy plot twists too, which will likely keep viewers on the edge of their seats – the creators want to ensure that it’s accessible to everyone. Judging from its successful ratings in its first episode, it likely is. Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. to check it out.
