“Snowpiercer” has yet to release season 4 but the latest updates reveal that this will be the post-apocalyptic thriller’s final run.

In a report by Deadline, it was revealed that TNT is canceling the series based on Bong Joon-ho's 2013 film of the same name, as well as Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette's 1982 graphic novel Le Transperceneige, which inspired the movie.

“We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT,” a spokesperson for the network said in a statement to Deadline. “Its talented writers, actors and crew took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. It was critically acclaimed, had a significant impact on the post-apocalyptic genre and now remains in the hearts and minds of fans forever.”

For those who may not be familiar with the series, it follows the story of the passengers of a perpetually moving train carrying the remnants of humanity after the world becomes a frozen wasteland.

In its first three seasons,”Snowpiercer” got mixed reviews from critics. While some praised its sci-fi mystery angle and critical reflection of classism, social inequity, and the politics of survival, others complained about changes made to its source materials.

There were also the limitations of its cable TV telecast, which restricts Snowpiercer's irreverent, anarchic strengths.

Despite these bumps, the show gained popularity among audiences, in part thanks to its syndicated streaming run on Netflix.

It was for this reason that the series was given a fourth season, something that came as early before season 3 aired.

Looking ahead, unless some other network picks it up, “Snowpiercer’s” run will be coming to an end.

As of this writing, the fourth and final season of “Snowpiercer” has yet to be known. Season 3 ended a few months ago so it is likely that season 4 will air in 2023.
