Spider-Man and Tom Holland have been hogging the headlines these days after being ejected from the MCU, thanks to Sony and Disney’s spat. But there’s a very exciting rumor that has been doing its round in the background saying that Henry Cavill might be ditching the Superman role he’s known for in favor of the adamantium clawed X-Men superhero Wolverine, a role that was played to perfection by Hugh Jackman for 17 long years.

According to We Got This Covered, Cavill was reportedly in talks with Marvel President Kevin Feige for a possible role in the MCU. It was initially thought that the actor would be playing as a U.S. agent. However, the part eventually went to Wyatt Russell.

Thus, it’s totally possible that Feige might have another role in mind for Cavill. With no official word from either Marvel or the actor, it’s anybody’s guess what that role might be.

But the lack of an official statement is not stopping some fans from putting forth their own speculations. Cheat Sheet, for instance, proposed that Cavill might be following the footsteps of Hugh Jackman and playing the iconic X-Men role of Wolverine.

According to the publication, Wolverine is the perfect role for Cavill if the actor wants to avoid typecasting. The adamantium-clawed superhero is a bit beastly and emotionally complex, a sharp contrast to the rather squeaky clean image of Superman.

As the actor of DCU’s biggest character, it’s but logical for Cavill to be a bit picky and play a big name superhero in the MCU as well. Wolverine, one of the most popular heroes in X-Men, certainly fits the bill.

Of course these are just speculations for now since no official word has been released at the moment. In fact, there’s another rumor going around saying that Jackman might be back for at least one more movie.

After playing as Wolverine for 17 years, it can’t be helped if fans would always link the role to Jackman. Taking this into consideration, it would make sense for Marvel to try to convince the actor to play the character one more time.

In fact, that’s just what current rumors are saying. According to Cosmic Book News, Feige wants Jackman back for an upcoming film, “Wolverine Vs Hulk.” However, fans better take this one down with a grain of salt as no confirmation has been given yet.
