A 17-year-old Texas boy was charged with killing his missing mom. She was found strangled to death in the trunk of the car that he was driving in Nebraska, days after the two disappeared.

In the death and disappearance of Michelle Roenz, 49, her son Tyler Roenz of Humble, Texas, was charged as an adult with murder and tampering with evidence, reported New York Post.

The two were initially reported missing on Oct. 13 from their house in the 1400 block of Birch Arbor Court. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that the teenager’s father called to report that he was unable to contact the boy or wife on their phones. He added that their car was also missing from the home, Fox 26 Houston reported.

Authorities found blood and apparent human teeth in the garage of the family's house, according to court documents. To find the mother and son, a CLEAR Alert, which is for missing adults who are believed to be in danger, was issued. The sheriff’s office said that they got information that the vehicle might be in Nebraska. Then they alerted the state police there.

The Nebraska State Police located the vehicle on Oct. 14 near Grand Island, said authorities. They tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver escaped and then crashed during a car chase. Nebraska state troopers were involved in the high-speed chase. The driver crashed in Aurora, in south-central Nebraska. Authorities then found that the teen was driving the vehicle. They found his mother’s body in the trunk of the car.

He was taken to a hospital where he was treated for injuries that were said to be not life-threatening. The sheriff’s office said that reports indicated that Michelle died as a result of strangulation as well as blunt force trauma. Her son is being held in Hall County, reported ABC News. He faces an extradition hearing on Friday. No motive for the alleged murder was revealed.

In March, Tyler was charged with attempted sexual assault after he allegedly attacked a girl, 18, in his car, ripped off her shirt, and kicked her in the face.
