In spite of a successful visit with Queen Elizabeth II that has led to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan participating in her Platinum Jubilee, experts on Wednesday believe that the royal family continues to have reservations with the couple.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, spoke to the press about the matter, saying that many members of the royal family have expressed reservations about allowing the couple to participate in monarchy-related events in spite of the apparent endorsement of the Queen, according to Us Weekly.

“I’d say the rift very definitely hasn’t been healed,” he said. “That, I’m afraid, is quite clear.”

The couple has been confirmed to attend the upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, although Buckingham Palace staff has also announced that Prince Harry would not be joining the Queen on the balcony during the celebrations.

“After careful consideration, the Queen has decided that this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd of June will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen,” the spokesperson said.

Many believe that the ruling was due to the belief that Prince Harry and Meghan would exploit their connection to the Queen as a way to further their media careers and Netflix contract, with royal expert Richard Eden pointing out that only their personal projects are being greenlit, The News International reported.

“I think it's a real problem. They fancied themselves as producers. They saw this as the first of many, many programmes. But they don't have the experience,” Eden said. “What’s so significant and what’s frankly worrying is that the only projects that will get the green light from Netflix now will be very personal ones about the Royal Family.”

Eden then said that as fewer of their other project ideas are green-lit, that they may lean further into the intrigue of being part of the Crown as a way to garner interest to their projects and ideas.

“It will have to be personal and it will have to involve the Royal Family. That puts them in an awkward position because I don’t think they wanted to do that and certainly it will make people very nervous back at Buckingham Palace,” he said.
