Leprechaun
'Leprechaun: In The Hood' was released in 2000, starring Warwick Davis and Ice-T. Trimark Pictures

With Halloween 2013 right around the corner, costume wearers and candy lovers everywhere are excited about a brand new opportunity to decorate their respective towns with various costumes and toilet paper murals while also visiting houses with the expectation of receiving great treats from neighborhood residents. While many folks will be responsible for taking their children around town for their annual candy hunts, other people enjoy staying indoors, providing the neighborhood kids with candy they've purchased and watching a wide variety of horror movies that are usually made available on All Hallows' Eve.

Some of the classic Halloween movies of course include the popular 'Halloween' series with famed fictional killer Michael Myers, the always popular 'Scream' series, in which multiple killers appear to haunt and attempt to kill Neve Campbell's character Sydney Prescott and of course the Freddie Kruger chain of movies entitled 'A Nightmare on Elm Street.' Though many of these movies won't be available on television, the option is always offered for fans to rent or order various flicks on demand.

While the aforementioned movies remain just a handful of the most popular pictures people enjoy viewing around the Halloween season, there are certainly others to choose from that are considered great movies while others are simply thought of as dreadful.

With that being said, here's a list of the 5 Worst Halloween movies. These movies are so terrible that you just have to watch them!

5. Species (1995) - Starring Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen and Alfred Molina

A poor movie to begin with, 'Species' cracks the list at No. 5 simply because it's a bad movie that also happens to fall in the science fiction/horror category. The movie basically focuses on scientists that are trying to stop a murderous alien before she is able to mate with human life forms. Sketchy acting from Michael Madsen, Alfred Molina and even Forest Whitaker add to the unexpected hilarity this film brings. Created to frighten audiences - though the premise of the movie isn't terrible - 'Species' certainly belongs on this list because even though it is by no means a great movie, it's a great bad movie!

4. The People Under the Stairs (1991) - Starring Brandon Adams and Ving Rhames

The mere fact that Ving Rhames appears in this film makes it necessary to watch. Director Wes Craven's 'The People Under the Stairs' became a popular flick because of the inclusion of cannibalistic children who live in the basement of a home inhabited by normal residents. A weird yet amusing movie, Craven's creation is certainly worthy of a spot on the list. Trust me, if you're looking for something to entertain you this Halloween, spend 102 minutes watching Brandon Adams, Everett McGill and Ving Rhames in action. You won't be disappointed. Ok, maybe you will be!

3. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) - Starring Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger

Let's put it this way. Matthew McConaughey has made much better movies but because this one is so bad, it may just be his most entertaining. Thanks to Kim Henkel's directorial genius, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation' was an early glimpse at an actor who would subsequently burst onto the scene. Though McConaughey had great success with 'Dazed and Confused' - released in 1993 - 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation' gave movie fans a glimpse into his on-camera dark side, as he constantly terrorized Renee Zellweger's character throughout the film. If you haven't seen this one yet, clear your Halloween schedule and watch this movie. I promise you'll laugh, even though it probably shouldn't be funny!

2. The Happening (2008) - Starring Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel and John Leguizamo

Thank you M. Night Shyamalan for a true cinematic disaster. If you thought 'The Village' and 'Devil' - two movies that nearly made this list - were bad, please watch 'The Happening.' The only thing I'll say as far as acting goes is that John Leguizamo wasn't terrible. Mark Wahlberg was however. A movie that focuses around the idea of people attempting to escape a deadly neurotoxin that forces the infected to commit suicide, Shyamalan created a film that probably made viewers want to take their own lives. Please, I beg of you, if you haven't seen this fantastically awful 'horror' movie, do so immediately. The only reason it sits at No. 2 is because the top movie on the list may just be the worst thing every created.

1. Leprechaun: In The Hood (2000) - Starring Warwick Davis and Ice-T

I'm sure many of you have seen or at least heard of the 'Leprechaun' movie series starring Warwick Davis. The series - initially directed by Mark Jones - began in 1993 with 'Leprechaun,' a movie about a disgruntled leprechaun in desperate search of a missing gold coin who kills anyone that gets in his way. The appearance of Jennifer Aniston in the film saves it from being a complete theatrical disaster but as the series went on, with the creation of 'Leprechaun 2,' 'Leprechaun 3,' 'Leprechaun 4: In Space' and a few other ridiculous creations, the chain of films just got worse and worse but for whatever reason, you couldn't stop watching!

The worst one in the seven-movie set has to be 'Leprechaun: In The Hood.' I mean seriously, doesn't the name say it all? Chaos ensues in this movie when an evil leprechaun is freed by a couple of aspiring rap artists with the evil monster killing multiple people before taking over the spirit of one of the rappers at the end of the film. It's simply one of those movies that is so terrible you'll want to see it for yourselves. Heck, how many movies can you think of that include a monster rapping about happily about being an evil Irish Leprechaun? Not many!
