The U.S. President Donald Trump has been pretty vocal about China and how he vows to be a touch on them during trade negotiations to benefit Americans. However, the volume of imports of Chinese goods by Trump’s properties speaks a different story.

It has been reported in the media that Trump’s properties in the U.S. have imported “more than eight tons of goods from China” since September 2019.

The data, which comes from the U.S. customs data compiled by ImportGenius, reveals that the goods came from China to decorate some of the Trump’s properties in the U.S. ImportGenius is responsible for tracking the information provided by the companies to the U.S. customs when they import some good in the country.

Trump is also known to have imported six tons of tables to the U.S. from China last fall for his Trump International Hotel in New York. However, on the same day, he tweeted that his trade negotiations with China are “going on really well.”

The imports have not stopped even recently. Nearly two months ago, two tons of wooden and glass showcase cabinets arrived at the Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, a shipment that is believed to have come from Shanghai, China.

Just two days after the shipment arrived, Trump bashed China publicly for their handling of the coronavirus and even accused them of being “incompetent” and “mass worldwide killing” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To tackle these reports, Trump may give an argument that he stopped running his businesses and handed them over to his sons as he became the President of the U.S. back in 2016. However, it is a well-known fact that he still has stakes in his businesses and it is not known to what level he controls the operations and decision-making at his companies daily.

During his tenure as a POTUS, Trump has issued at least three executive orders, suggesting citizens to “Buy American,” "Buy-American Preferences" and "Maximizing Use of American-Made Goods, Products, and Materials." Contrary to his “Make America Great Again” slogan, the imports made to his properties across the U.S. follow a different story altogether.
