Last month, iMotor Times got to test drive a 2013 Scion FR-S and one of the main inadequacies addressed in the review was the Scion's lack of torque. In order to solve that problem, I suggested that a small turbo to give a little low-end boost will be all the FR-S needs to completely transform its abilities.
Apparently, that thought has been shared among aftermarket tuners as well. Accelerated Performance introduces a turbocharging kit for the Scion FR-S, Toyota GT86, and twin Subaru BRZ sports cars. Combined with a reprogrammed ECU and a new exhaust, the turbo kit moves the modest 200-hp power figure all the way up to a breathtaking 440-hp. At. The. Wheels!
But don't take their word for it just yet. Accelerated Performance put their upgrades to the test by taking it to a drag strip. The result? Their tuned Subaru BRZ clocked a quarter mile time of just 11.3 seconds, reaching 127 mph.
We first reported Accelerated Performance's turbocharging project last month, when the tuners reported a prototype turbo rated at 278-whp. Now, Accelerated Performance has announced that its wicked FRS / BRZ 400 Package is now available for orders. Make sure to check out the blistering run by Accelerated Performance below:
