Verizon has just announced a trio of new Motorola Droid smartphones: The Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. The new Ultra and Maxx follow-up last year's Droid Razr HD and Razr HD Maxx. The Mini however is the smaller newer version of the Droid M.

The 5-inch Droid Ultra is 7.18mm thin, with a 1.7GHz dual core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB storage. The Droid Maxx features the same internals, plus 32GB of storage. The Maxx will reportedly last 48 hours with normal use, compared to the 32 hour battery life of the Razr Maxx HD.

The 4.3-inch Droid is a smartphone for anyone looking for a lower profile, lower cost device. Despite the diminutive size, the Mini features the same internals as the Droid Ultra.

All three smartphones by Motorola feature 24 percent faster CPUs, 100 percent faster GPUs, twice the RAM of their predecessors, and a 10-megapixel camera.

All three smartphones are up for pre-order now and will be available starting August 20th. The Droid Mini will cost $99 on-contract, the Droid Ultra is priced at $199, and the Droid Maxx will set you back $299 with a two-year agreement.
