Shakira looks sweet on the outside, but she has a snarky side ready to come out at the right moment -- like her first appearance as a judge in the fourth season of "The Voice."
The Colombian superstar started with a bang in her new role as coach. Shakira joked about the other judges -- Adam Levine and Blake Shelton -- saying they are "deaf after three seasons" and cannot properly assess contestants. She even mocked fellow newcomer Usher's relaxed attitude, mimicking his posture by putting her foot up.
Her charm and approachable personality did shine through when she addressed the singers though -- she earnestly praised one contestant to tears.
"You can take the world by storm," she enthusiastically told the elated singer.
Shakira also became personal with another one by talking to their native Spanish and jumping to the stage to hug her.
Her fellow judges were stunned by the Colombian's zing.
"Shakira is so sweet and beautiful," said "The Voice" veteran Blake Shelton. "And then ... the claws come out."
"She spits out razors," added Usher.

This year is proving to be a busy one for Shakira. She joined "The Voice" a mere month after giving birth to baby boy Milan, which she had with her boyfriend, Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué. The singer is also a very active humanitarian and philanthropist. Two years ago, President Obama named her President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, and she recently conducted a World Baby Shower sponsored by UNICEF that collected over 80,000 vaccinations against polio.
