Videos circulating on social media show the precise moment of a deadly attack against two senior officials in the Mexico City government on May 20.
Ximena Guzmán, personal secretary to Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada, and José Muñoz, an adviser, were shot and killed by gunmen on a motorcycle in the Moderna neighborhood of the capital. Authorities are calling the incident a "direct attack," underscoring the continued violence targeting political figures across Mexico.
Surveillance footage shows a man wearing a helmet approaching the victims' parked vehicle and firing multiple shots at close range before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
Other images show forensic investigators at the scene removing the bodies from the vehicle, which had four bullet holes in the windshield.
Authorities are reviewing security camera footage and have mobilized both federal and local intelligence agencies to investigate.
Mayor Brugada confirmed the deaths in a public statement and condemned the attack as deliberate. "There will be no impunity," Brugada said.
President Claudia Sheinbaum, who previously served as mayor of Mexico City and is a political ally of Brugada, also denounced the killings during her daily press briefing.
"All necessary support is being provided to ensure a thorough investigation," Sheinbaum said, noting the involvement of the National Intelligence Center and federal security institutions.
A separate video that has gone viral on social media shows the moment Security Minister Omar García Harfuch informed Sheinbaum of the attack.
In footage shared by journalist Alejandro Cacho, Harfuch is seen texting and taking calls before approaching Sheinbaum with the news. Visibly shaken, Sheinbaum then shares the initial details with members of the press and asks for a few minutes before making an official statement.

After stepping backstage to confirm the report, García Harfuch returned, and Sheinbaum addressed the media in a more solemn tone. She shared details of the attack and outlined the response being coordinated by authorities.
"There will be no impunity," she said. "The suspects will be detained and must face justice."
