“Descendants” and “Jessie” fans were devastated to learn that 20-year-old actor Cameron Boyce has passed away. The confirmation came from Boyce’s family this past weekend.
In a statement to CNN, Boyce’s family revealed that the Disney actor died in his sleep after suffering from a seizure caused by an ongoing medical condition. Boyce’s family did not reveal exactly what the actor’s condition was but said that he was already being treated for it.
“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him,” the statement read. “We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother,” Boyce’s family added.
“Descendants” director Kenny Ortega also penned a touching tribute to Boyce via his Instagram account. He said that his love, light and prayers go out to the young actor and his family.
“Cameron brought Love, Laughter, and Compassion with him every day I was in his presence,” he wrote. “His talent, immeasurable. His kindness and generosity, overflowing. It has been an indescribable honor and pleasure to know and work with him. I will see you again in all things loving and beautiful my friend. I will search the stars for your light. Rest In Peace Cam. You will always be My Forever Boy!” he added.
Boyce had been in the industry for a couple of years. He previously starred in “Grown Ups” alongside Adam Sandler. The “Murder Mystery” star couldn’t also believe the news that Boyce has died. On his Twitter account, Sandler penned a touching tribute to his late co-star.
The 20-year-old actor also lent his voice to the character of Jake from the Disney Junior animated show “Jake And The Neverland Pirates.” He also starred in the movie “Mirrors,” where he played the role of Michael Carson.
In “Jessie,” Boyce gave life to the character of Luke Ross. “Jessie” also aired on Disney Channel from 2011 to 2015. His other credits include “Grown Ups 2,” “Eagle Eye,” “Code Black” and more.
