Pixels
Inky, Blinky, Clyde, Pinky and PAC-MAN in Columbia Pictures' "PIXELS." Sony Pictures Entertainment

Imagine a world where classic arcade games such as "Donkey Kong," "Centipede" and "PAC-MAN" are worse they're dangerous mankind! Also imagine our only hope for survival is a band of video game nerds to save the world. Sounds a little far fetched, right?

Well in Chris Columbus ("Harry Potter" and "Home Alone") latest film "Pixels" we get just that. Adapted from Patrick Jean's 2010 short film of the same name, Columbus' movie shows us what would happen if the all-time best classic video games of the arcade era pixelized into the real world and attacked.

Adam Sandler plays Sam Brenner, a former world champion at classic video games and a current tech specialist at an electronics store. His character is called upon to save the planet when an alien race attacks Earth after discovering a time capsule containing arcade games and taking it as an act of war. Sandler steps up to the the task with the help of his old gaming pal played by Josh Gad and his long-time "Donkey Kong" rival portrayed by Peter Dinklage.

Kevin James co-stars as Presiden of the United States and Brenner's childhood best friend with Michelle Monaghan as a military weapons specialist and love interest for Sandler.

We got a chance to sit down with the director and stars of film to discuss gaming, "PAC-MAN" and much more about "Pixels." Check out the interview below:

"Pixels" opens in theaters July 24, 2015.
