Born in Queens, NY, and raised in Fort Lee, New Jersey to a greek mother, and a Mexican father, MJ started her musical career at a very young age.

The recording artist, singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, model, and actress, also known for participating on NBC’s mega-hit show “The Voice” Season 6 as a Top 20 contestant, Top 5 on Team Usher and also as a finalist on Team Alejandro Sanz of the TELEVISA’s show “La Voz México” (The Voice México) Final Season, acquire her love to the music industry after going to studio sessions and rehearsals with her father, a singer, and multi-instrumentalist, since she was a baby.

At age 14, MJ started a promising career as a vocalist, replacing her mother in her father’s 10 piece orchestra. As the lead vocalist in this group of instrumentalists, she was able to sing different genres of music such as jazz standards, pop, r&b, soul, funk, Latin, greek, classical, Bossa nova, etc, and started to write her own songs just using a guitar and piano.

As a teenager, she also discovered a love for dance and started taking dance classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, mambo, tap, and hip-hop/street jazz at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City.

This hardworking entertainer, undoubtedly, is poised to conquer our hearts and playlists. After being on the precipice of launching herself into stardom through breakout performances over the years, MJ Songstress unleashed the video to her bouncy, party bop “Dame La Noche.”

That time Usher and Shakira turned their seats around and instantly blessed MJ Songstress with their respective co-sign as part of Season 6 of The Voice on NBC.

Not fair! Having to choose between J. Balvin and Alejandro Sanz!

That time J. Balvin, a judge on TELEVISA’s La Voz Mexico (The Voice Mexico) tried to recruit MJ Songstress to join his team. She picked Team Alejandro Sanz.

She sang Whitney Houston’s “I have nothing" and Bonnie Tyler's “Total Eclipse of the Heart” on La Voz México 2016.

MJ Songstress joined Wyclef on his “Carnival” tour and was featured on his Selena tribute song.

Amor a la Mexicana and being Latina enough

MJ Songstress toured with A.B. Quintanilla’s Kumbia All Starz and was featured on their hit track 'Rica Y Apretadita’. While facing Mexican press she was often met with resistance for not being Latina enough. That would change once she took the stage.

MJ’s V Records team is steered by multi-platinum record breaker and music manager Jojo Brim. As former Management Partner at KWL Management, the artist services company founded by industry giant Kevin Liles, Brim worked side by side with Liles to launch Big Sean, Trey Songz, PNB Rock, Young Jeezy, Nelly, London On Da Track and more.

MJ lent her vocals to hip-hop heavyweights such as Swizz Beatz and Beanie Sigel, singing the hook for the latter’s memorable “Feel It In The Air” track — an undoubted classic rap cut.

MJ Songstress honed her live music chops singing, and band directing with “Somethin' Special Orchestra”, a family band formed by her immigrant parents, Mexican dad, and Greek mom. Growing up they were popular amongst the NY/NJ private events and wedding circuit. They evolved into a sizzling and high-demand performance group, dazzling communities, and elites at major corporate functions.
