Super Bowl XLVIII is the biggest night of television and sports and this year it will take place on Sunday, February 2 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks will face off in the grand finale, but before they bring their game on they will have a touch of classical music to set the mood. That is because the four-time Grammy award winner, Renee Fleming, will sing the national anthem during the opening of the football match.

The opera singer will be singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the kickoff time which is scheduled for 6:30pm EST. The soprano grew up in Rochester, New York and studied at the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam. Fleming has been honored with various accolades that include Grammy's, the Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Medal, the German ECHO Klassik Award and an award she received in 2012 from the National Medal of Arts.

Fleming will be joining a long list of famous singers that have had the honor of singing the anthem before the big game, like Alicia Keys last year. Other artists in that list include Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Jewel, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston and many more. For the half-time performance, Bruno Mars has been tapped with the Rolling Stones joining him on-stage.
