Is This Why Song Hye Kyo And Song Joong Ki's Marriage Fell Apart?

On June 27, world-famous K-drama couple Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo confirmed that they’re getting a divorce. Now shocked fans can’t help but wonder how their marriage fell apart.

Just last month, fans were elated when Song Joong Ki gushed over his wife during a promotional interview for his new drama, saying that Song Hye Kyo has been his constant cheerleader. The next thing they knew, he was already filing a divorce from his wife.

Divorce rumors involving the Song-Song couple started to swirl around just months after their lavish wedding at The Shilla Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, in October 2017. The divorce rumors started after several fans noticed Song Hye Kyo not wearing their wedding ring on several occasions. The actress further added fuel to the fire when she deleted all of Song Joong Ki’s photos on her Instagram earlier this year.

Since they got married, the Song-Song couple has kept much of their marital affairs private. In his official statement following the divorce announcement, however, Song Joong Ki said he did not want to detail “the mistakes” that each of them made, leading to speculations that while the divorce announcement came from him, both parties had a part in their failed marriage.

Speculations are now rife that a third party might be involved in their decision to split. Some news outlets suggest that actor Park Bo Gum might be the reason behind the divorce as he previously starred with Song Hye Kyo on the drama “Encounter.”

Song Hye Kyo has a history of developing relationships with her male leads. It all started with Lee Byung Hun, her co-star in the SBS series “All In.” After their split, she fell in love with his co-star Hyun Bin in “The World That They Live In,” but they broke up shortly before Hyun Bin entered the military.

Song Hye Kyo was also previously linked to her “Full House” and “Autumn In My Heart” co-stars Bi Rain and Song Seung Heon. After starring together in “Descendants Of The Sun,” Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo fell in love and surprised fans with their wedding announcement months after the drama.

Although rumors linking Park Bo Gum to Song Hye Kyo are everywhere, the agency handling Song Hye Kyo maintained that the two are just friends. “The agency will take strong action against groundless rumors regarding Park,” the agency said shortly after the divorce announcement. “Rumors about Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo are absolutely not true.”

Earlier this year, reports also came out claiming that Song Joong Ki was having an affair with Song Hye Kyo’s makeup artist. Back in February, Song Joong Ki was reported to have cheated on Song Hye Kyo with her makeup artist, but the rumored third party seemed to have subtly quelled the cheating rumor by uploading a selca with her client Song Hye Kyo on her Instagram.

Since the divorce announcement, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have been mum about the details of their divorce, so fans should take all these cheating rumors with a grain of salt. In his statement, Song Joong Ki said he’s now in pain and hopes to recover soon.
