A young woman in Katara Hills area, of Bhopal in India was attacked by her mother’s live-in partner on Friday after molesting her. The suspect, Dinesh Parmar, 25, had mixed chilli powder into a glass of water and threw it at the 20-year-old woman causing a burning sensation in her eyes.
According to police, the woman’s attacker had been living with her mother after her parents separated. The young woman, whose identity has been withheld, was home alone at the time when she was attacked by the suspect. Her mother was not home as she had gone for work and her younger sister was attending coaching class.
The victim was on her mobile phone and playing games when the accused approached her allegedly in a drunken state.
Katara Hills police station house officer Suresh Meena said Parmar held the woman from behind and when she objected to the act, he threw chilli powder mixture in her eyes.
The Times of India reported that as soon as the woman was able to get away from Parmar, she ran downstairs to alert her neighbors. The woman's mother was informed and upon returning home learned of her daughter’s ordeal. The family immediately filed a complaint with the Katara Police Station that night.
Parmar who is a driver by profession fled the home but was later apprehended and taken into custody by the police. The suspect has been booked under Sections 354 and 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a case of molestation was registered against Parmar.
In another incident that occurred in the Luniyawas area in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, two sisters, aged 20 and 19 years, were allegedly gang-raped by four men. Police reports stated that two of the four accused were known to both the sisters.
On June 1, one of the accused known to the girls, allegedly brought the two sisters to a house in the Luniyawas area. From there, the two familiar suspects along with their two male friends, thrashed and gang-raped the girls. The men had threatened the sisters against revealing the crime but after they were released by the suspects, both the young women informed their family members about the incident.
Police were informed about the crime and an offense has been registered against the suspects.
