A 50-year-old woman allegedly shot her husband after she learned that he was molesting kids at her daycare center in Washington, D.C.

The woman was identified as Shanteari Weems who allegedly shot her husband after she was told by the kids at the daycare that her husband had molested them, WJLA.com reported.

After shooting her husband, the 50-year-old then threatened to shoot herself at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. She eventually revealed that her husband was a child molester afterward.

The male suspect, someone that Weems had been married to for the last five years, was shot twice and is reportedly in critical condition per documents.

Weems was the owner of the Lil Kidz Kastle Daycare Center in Owings Mills in Baltimore County, Maryland.

Police had a tough time getting to the room where the couple was at the time on Thursday, July 21. Authorities were only able to get inside after a 30-minute standoff.

Recovered from the scene were two guns along with letters from Weems, apologizing to the young victims. It was also added that she was unaware that such things were going on in the daycare center.

The following quotes were lifted from the notebook’s pages.

"I want [Victim 1] to face the world as scum."

"I hope [Victim 1] get beat up in jail, and I'm [going to] paralyze you."

"I want these kids to get justice, and you gonna pay"

"My only regret for me is that I didn't put the bullet in your head."

As a result, the daycare center was shut down for now. An investigation on the matter is currently ongoing.

Weems would later be arrested and was charged with assault with intent to kill.

It was on July 20 when Weems allegedly drove to Washington DC to meet her husband. When they met, she repeatedly asked her husband about the accusations of child molestation. After that, Weems would receive multiple messages and phone calls from parents and teachers about the molestation situation according to documents.
