A teenage girl in Dallas, Texas was arrested after she had shot and killed a random 11-year-old boy on Sunday while she was fighting with another girl in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the area.

Two girls were reportedly in the parking lot outside of an apartment complex in Dallas arguing with each other. It is unclear from the police report what they were arguing about, but the situation reportedly got very heated between the two of them, ABC News reported.

One of the girls, who was 14 years old according to the police report, somehow was able to grab a gun from an unknown source, and she pointed it at the other girl that she was arguing with in the parking lot. When she shot her weapon, however, it instead hit an 11-year-old boy and bystander who was just in the area while they were arguing, CBS News reported.

The boy was severely injured when he was hit in his body, and he was taken to a nearby hospital by the responding police officers, where he later died from his injuries. The teenage girl who shot him attempted to flee the crime scene, but she ended up being found hiding at another apartment complex nearby.

The police have not commented much on the incident, and they have kept the names of the victims and suspects out publicly due to their age as is standard practice. However, they have said that the gun used for the accidental killing has been recovered and that they are investigating the incident more before releasing any more information publicly.

The 14-year-old girl has been charged with murder for the killing of the boy, and she has been staying at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center since her arrest. It is unclear if she will be tried as a juvenile or an adult for the crime.
