A young Pakistani model was reportedly found dead in her home in Lahore’s Defence B neighborhood under mysterious circumstances on Sunday, July 11.

Nayab Nadeem, 29, was reportedly unmarried and was living alone in her DHA Phase 5 residence when the apparent crime happened.

The victim's stepbrother, Muhammad Ali Nasir reportedly went to check on Nadeem over the weekend and discovered her body naked on the floor in the TV lounge of her house. Nasir immediately informed authorities, who arrived at the scene and retrieved the corpse for a postmortem examination, Pakistan Observer reported.

Nadeem may have been strangled to death, the initial forensic report by Pakistani media stated. Even though the body of the victim was discovered naked, the police have ruled out the possibility of rape.

Nadeem's torso and neck reportedly had several marks and scars that indicated that she was tortured and choked to death.

Nadeem was last seen alive in the early hours of Saturday, July 10, when she traveled to Gulberg to have ice cream with Nasir. After the short trip, her stepbrother dropped her back at her house in Defense Phase 5 and drove home. Nasir claims Nadeem did not answer his calls later that day. When he went back to check on her, she reportedly refused to answer the door even though her car was parked inside, according to Gulf News.

Troubled by her sudden silence, Nasir said that he climbed into the house through a damaged bathroom window lattice. Once he got in, he found his stepsister’s dead body lying naked in the TV lounge.

Police have opened a murder investigation based on a complaint by the victim's stepbrother. The investigating police squad believes that the model had been strangled by a yet-to-be-identified assailant, Station House Officer (SHO) Nayyar Nisar of Defence B police station said.

Nasir had been visiting his sister daily for the last year to supply her with groceries. After the postmortem, the body will be handed over to her relatives to perform her funeral.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a British-Pakistani Instagram model named Mahira Zulfiqar was reportedly found dead at her friend's residence in Lahore's Defense Housing Authority(DHA) on May 3, Asian News International reported.

The victim who arrived in Pakistan from the United Kingdom was staying at an upper portion of a bungalow in Lahore DHA with her friend. Zulfiqar's body was discovered by a domestic worker around noon, May 3. According to the postmortem report, she died after being shot once in the neck and once in the arm.

Based on a complaint from the victim’s uncle Muhammad Nazeer, police have registered a murder case against two suspects, Zahir Jadoon and Saad Ameer Butt.

When confronted by the police, Jadoon reportedly confessed to Zulfiqar's murder and said that he quarreled with her on May 3 as she was blackmailing him using his objectionable videos. Jadoon reportedly confessed to shooting her dead and leaving for Islamabad. Jadoon’s brother Tahir Khan was also arrested after police discovered his pistol that was used in the crime, according to The Tribune.
