An Indian woman killed her two sons by using a knife to slit their throats. She also tried to take her own life. The incident took place at Uppalapadu village in Podili mandal of Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh on Monday evening.
While her sons, Mukesh (4) and Deekshit (2), are no more, the mother's condition is said to be critical. She has been admitted to RIMS in Ongole, reported The Times Of India.
Her kids had fatal cuts on their throats, but Adilakshmi’s cut wasn’t too deep. Hence, she survived. K Adilakshmi, 22, and the boys were found by their family members lying on a bed with blood all over them.
According to Podili police, Adilakshmi tied the knot with Kareti Srihari from Singarayakonda about five years ago. However, their married life wasn't a happy one. She apparently had issues with staying with her in-laws. This often led to heated arguments between the couple.
A few days ago, Adilakshmi left Singarayakonda and went to her mother’s place in Podili. “She went into further depression after Srihari ignored her calls, especially when one of their sons fell ill. Family members said this was the tipping point for Adilakshmi to take the extreme step,” a police officer said.
Last month, an Indian man allegedly killed his two daughters by running down his truck over them. According to police, he later killed himself by jumping in front of the same vehicle. The incident happened in Induri village in Pune district of Maharashtra, India.
The man, Bharat Barate, was angry with his elder daughter Nandini, 18, when he found her chatting with a boy on phone. His younger daughter Vaishnavi, 14, supported Nandini, reported India Today.
“Barate was a driver and owned a truck. He caught his elder daughter chatting with some boy on her phone. Losing his temper over it, Barate beat her up,” said senior police official Pradip Londhe from Talegaon MIDC police station.
"Later, Barate got up and went outside. After some time, he came back and took both the girls out of the house. On hearing the sound of the truck, his wife also woke up and came out. He made his two daughters lie on the road and drove the truck towards them. According to his wife, Barate even signalled to her to join them," Londhe added.
She tried to get help from relatives living nearby, but by then Barate had already run the truck over their daughters.
