In a shocking incident in Greater Noida, India, a 12-year-old boy allegedly raped his 16-year-old sister, who is now carrying his child. The boy has been booked and sent to an observation home.
Police were informed about the incident after the girl’s employers found out about her pregnancy and told Childline. The girl seems to have conceived two or three months ago.
The two have three more siblings. They stay with their parents in a rented house. Their mother is employed as a maid in a residential area and their father works as a construction worker. The girl accompanied her mom to houses where they worked.
Police said that an employer noticed a bump and asked the girl about her health. During the conversation, she revealed that her brother had sexual relations with her twice around two to three months ago.
Bisrakh SHO Anita Chauhan told The Times Of India that the minors were unaware of the consequences of the sexual act. “When the employer informed Childline, police started investigating the matter and it came to light that the parents did not realize the gravity of the situation,” she said.
A police officer said that the girl had told her mother, but the family thought the girl had an infection and did not realize she was pregnant.
Sub inspector Usha Kushwaha, who is investigating the case, said, “The girl has studied up to seventh while the boy is in third standard. At present, since schools are closed, the minor accused visits the construction site with his father."
The boy faced the child welfare committee on Monday. The following day he was sent to a juvenile shelter.
An ultrasound will be done to find out the girl’s pregnancy status. She has been sent to a shelter as well.
In a separate incident last month, police arrested a 26-year-old man in Ahmedabad, Gujarat for allegedly raping his 15-year-old sister, reported Indian Express.
“Around two and a half years ago, I was sleeping in my brother’s house when one night he raped me while his wife was sleeping in the other room. After that night, my brother raped me on multiple instances and when I protested, he used to beat me up," said the girl in her complaint.
After that she started living in another area of Ahmedabad but three months ago, he again raped her. "After that incident, I left the house and started living with my sister-in-law’s mother on rent in Ahmedabad,” the girl said.
