Volkswagen Touareg Edition X
Volkswagen Touareg Edition X VW

Today's theme seems to be anniversaries as Volkswagen has just revealed its latest Touareg X to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the German automaker's mid-size SUV.

First revealed 10 years ago at the 2002 Paris Motor Show, the Volkswagen Touareg has become one of the most important vehicles in the Volkswagen line-up, even becoming responsible for cross-brand variants including the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. What's more, Bentley plans to build a Touareg based super-luxe SUV as well.

The new Touareg X moniker is pretty straightforward, drawing its inspration from the Roman numeral symbol for the number 10. A limited edition model, the Touareg X features a bespoke 'Moonlight Blue Pearl Effect' paint as well as a set of 19-inch 'Moab' alloy wheels to distinguish the model from a standard Touareg. What's more, the Touareg X will offer a panoramic sunroof, silver anodized roof rails, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and darkened LED rear light clusters. Trim pieces including the 'Chrome & Style' designer pack, tinted side and rear windows, and 'Touareg X' logos on the fenders further enhance the vehicle's exterior.

Inside the cabin, VW adorns the surfaces with a beautiful amber brown Nappa leather trim that sports an intricate braid embossed finish. Decorative inlays are inserted on the ebony door and instrument panel trims. Finally, illuminated front door sills glow 'Touareg X' letters.

A limited-edition run, the special Volkswagen Touareg X will be available in five different powerplant and transmission combinations including hybrid. Prices in Germany will start at €61,025 for the V6 TDI BlueMotion Technology.
