Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots player currently in jail as the key suspect in a murder case, may be facing more legal woes. The families of the two men apparently gunned down by Hernandez in Boston in 2012 have filed filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Hernandez, according to court documents obtained by CNN. The $6 million lawsuits were filed on Wednesday on behalf of the families of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

Aaron Hernandez is being held in prison on charges related to another murder: he has not faced charges in connection with the deaths of Abreu and Furtado. According to the court documents, Hernandez apparently shot a weapon from his vehicle into the vehicle carrying Abreu and Furtado, killing them both. The two men were killed in Boston while driving a 2003 BMW. Salvatore Furtado said his son, Safiro, "was a good boy, a hard worker, very intelligent," at a press conference on Wednesday.

Aaron Hernandez was indicted by a grand jury on Aug. 22, 2013, for the murder of Odin Lloyd. He is also under investigation for a series of other murders in Massechusetts. Hernandez has maintained his innocence. A former University of Florida football star, Hernandez was drafted into the Patriots in 2010. On June 26, 2013, Hernandez was released from the Patriots after officers from the North Attleboro Police Department in Massachusetts arreste him at his home.
