No matter how popular a music artist may be at the moment, longevity in the music industry is never assured. There will always be that chance that the audience might eventually find an artist’s style a bit stale in the long run or that a fresher face comes in and eclipse the artist.

One way to stay on top of the game is for artists to reinvent their style and even themselves. A good example of this is Madonna, whose music managed to evolve with times. But perhaps the most extreme reinvention of all is that of Miley Cyrus as she shocked the world when she transformed from her Disney princess image to that of a twerking, sexually provocative performer.

Cyrus rose to international stardom with her role as a normal teenage girl living a double life in the hit Disney series “Hannah Montana.” ET Online calls this stage as Cyrus’ Disney Era, which started from March 2006 and lasted until late 2010.

However, it was also during this time that Cyrus started her transformation. In “Breakout,” Miley's 2008 album, she literally broke out from the Disney princess mold.

Then “Party In The U.S.A.” came out, which further put a distance between Miley’s image and that of the teenaged Hannah Montana. This is followed by “Can’t Be Tamed,” which further reinforced her adult image. She also began dating Liam Hemsworth at this point.

And then came the twerking Miley. In 2013, “Wrecking Ball” was released, which showcased a very different Miley Cyrus. She had her hair chopped, and in the video she was naked while riding on the demolition tool.

Her sexually provocative antics continued in the 2013 VMAs, where she was nearly nude while performing onstage with Robin Thicke. Hemsworth reportedly called off their engagement after seeing her shocking performance. She was back at the 2015 VMAs as a host where she was “dressed in a silver harness that covered only the center of her breasts, with a skirt that dripped down from it like a chandelier.”

But to the surprise and probably relief of her loyal fans, Cyrus reinvented herself once more. Maybe it helped that Hemsworth is back into her life in 2016, but by 2017, she released “Malibu,” which again showed a fresh-faced Miley.

It was at this point that she joined “The Voice” Season 11 as one of the show’s judges, alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys. There are those who believe that joining NBC’s singing competition show was a good move for the singer as it somehow resulted in her gaining back the fanbase she lost during the twerking stage.

So what’s next for Miley Cyrus? That’s the question every fan might be dying to know the answer to. But given the singer’s chameleon-like qualities, the future Miley might just be a pleasant surprise for everyone.
